His Secrets Can Destroy Her
From the moment Josie laid eyes on sexy, mysterious Shane Dean, she was in love. Their desire ignited a passionate affair, and within weeks, Shane had slipped a ring on her finger. It seemed her every fantasy was coming true . . . until her new husband disappeared without a trace. Now, two years and one broken heart later, Josie is shocked by the hospital calls: Shane has been found . . . at a crime scene with no memory of how he got there.
Her Love Can Save Him
Shane can't remember the blue-eyed angel at his bedside—or who he even is—but he knows something isn't right. His hearing is razor sharp, his physical strength incredible, and the urge to protect Josie overwhelming. For powerful enemies are hunting him, and Josie is the key to discovering why. As Shane struggles to unravel his past, dangerous new truths come to light. Can he protect the only woman he's ever loved? And can Josie trust a man she thought she knew—one who carries such a deadly secret?
Josie’s anxious, frustrated and a bit bewildered when she gets a call from the local hospital saying that her husband is there. She hasn’t seen nor even talked to Shane in two years but she has the divorce papers ready. She’s built a life for herself in Oregon and she’s not about to let the man derail her. Of course that’s all before she sees him again and her feelings and her body get tangled up with him. Shane is just as handsome as he ever was but he seems different, more open and more trusting of Josie – probably because he has no idea who he is or even who Josie is. He heads home with Josie as he has nowhere else to go but he’s determined to find out.
Shane knows that there’s a lot going on with him that he can’t explain. He has these weird abilities and they’re kind of freaking him out. They actually come in handy though when Josie’s house is attacked that first night and Shane ends up killing the men. He knows he has to protect Josie from whoever is after them but he doesn’t know if these men are after him or her.
Little by little Shane starts to remember past events and even remembers that he has brothers. He also remembers Josie and that he loves her and can’t live without her. Unfortunately Josie’s had enough of Shane’s lies and wants out – only...she has a hard time sticking to that decision.
I love a good amnesia story, that’s for sure and Shane’s lack of memories added a bit of something to this story – with events unfolding that are completely unexpected. What he remembers from his childhood is that him and his three brothers, Matt, Nate and Jory, were raised in a sort of military camp that taught them how to be deadly weapons - the ultimate killing machines. There’s more to the story there about their special “gifts” but I don’t want to give everything away. :) The leader of the camp was someone that they called “the Commander.” This is a man that they’d all be more than happy to kill but he proves elusive. As they escaped from the camp and have been hiding for the past 4.5 years they really don’t want their whereabouts known. It ends up that not only are the brothers looking for the Commander but also a way to save their own lives as they kind of have a type of kill switch built into their bodies.
The story basically revolves around Shane and Josie but has parts of it having to do with the brothers. The parts with Shane and Josie were part good and sometimes part ridiculous. Josie was constantly getting taken or waylaid and Shane would come to the rescue. This got a bit old after a while and I just wanted it to stop. Josie was a very strong character though and didn’t take shit from anyone. She did waffle a bunch about Shane but I can’t say I blame her. He did love her but had lied to her on so many occasions that she didn’t know what to believe.
The parts with the brothers I actually liked more – which is kind of not good for a romance. The brothers had been used and abused but had stuck together. I think I’ll like the other books as I’d like to get to know them better and what’s happening behind those pretty faces. As a whole I liked the book. It had action, adventure, love, loyalty, family, sex…what’s not to like. I could have done without a lot of the drama but seeing how Shane was raised I wasn’t too surprised.
